Police Make Gun Arrest in College Park

On August 4th, at approximately 12:50 a.m, patrol officers responded to the 8200 block of Baltimore Avenue for the report of a fight. Once on scene the officers observed approximately 200 people in the McDonald's parking lot at 8300 block of Baltimore Avenue.

 While dispersing the fight, a county officer heard several gun shots and saw a man shooting toward the crowd in the McDonald's parking lot.  The officer chased the suspect toward Pontiac Street. During that same time another county officer observed more gunshots being fired. These shots were coming from a small SUV parked in the McDonald's parking lot.

 At approximately 12:55 a.m., a University of Maryland police officer, observed a small SUV vehicle stopped in the 8200 block of Baltimore Avenue.  As the officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle the front passenger fled from the vehicle. He was apprehended a short distance away.  The second occupant was arrested at the scene.   Officers also recovered a handgun from the vehicle.  

The suspects have been identified as Melvyn Douglass Watson, Jr, 18, of the 6100 block of Greenbelt Road, and Dikimbe Rasheed David-Brandon, 20, of the 5500 block of Volta Avenue, Bladensburg.  They will be charged with possession of a handgun and reckless endangerment.

6100 block of Greenbelt Road is Beltway Plaza. Does the kid live in the mall? South side of street (193) is all commercial, too.

Can that be confirmed or corrected, please? Greenbelt would rather not have to own this POS. Thx.
