Detectives Arrest Suspect in Fatal Brandywine Shooting

The Homicide Unit has arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Brandywine earlier this month. The suspect is 34-year-old Muhammad Ali of the 5800 block of Annapolis Road in Bladensburg. He’s charged with the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Tyrone Shirriel Jr., of Southern Avenue in Oxon Hill.
On November 11th, at about 6:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 13600 block of Tower Road for a shooting. Officers found Shirriel outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with the victim prior to the shooting. The suspect and the victim were acquaintances.


Ali is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
