Detectives Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting in December

Homicide Unit detectives identified and arrested a suspect in a homicide in December. The suspect is 20-year-old Malique Lewis of the 1900 block of Valley Terrace in Southeast Washington. He's accused in connection with the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Armani Coles of 2nd Street in Northwest Washington.

On December 28th, 2017, at about 6:20 pm, patrol officers responded to Kenilworth Avenue at Eastern Avenue in Capitol Heights for a welfare check of a man lying in the roadway. When they arrived, the officers discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed Lewis as the suspect. The motive remains under investigation. 

Lewis is charged with first degree murder, assault and several additional charges. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
